Do you want to start an
online scrapbooking business?
One of the best ways to go about this is to offer pre-made pages for scrapbooks that people can then buy to use themselves. This is called paper piecing.
As a scrapper I’m sure that you can already rustle up a neat page including borders and layouts in your sleep.
Scrapbooking is very popular at the moment and more and more people are taking it up as a hobby.
But, like a lot of us, time often prevents us from achieving our goals.
Imagine that someone has seen a friend or relative’s scrapbook and has just caught the bug. They want to create their own scrapbooks and start to record the history of their family and all the occasions that they experience.
Often, these wannabe scrappers can give up at the first hurdle. Maybe they get let down by a supplier or find that they are just not patient and artistic enough to consider which borders or layouts to use. Maybe all their scrapbooks look the same & they are in desperate need of inspiration!
This is where you can fill a void and earn some cash at the same time!
The best online way to sell your wares is via Ebay.
You can even open a shop. This is a shop on Ebay, though and so doesn’t come with bills for rent, rates & utilities.
For people to come to your shop, you must offer something that’s just that bit different though.
Take time out to research other Ebay shops offering scrapbook pages etc- just to see what you’re up against.
As you’re already imaginative & creative, I’m sure you’ll be able to discover your own niche.
Alternatively, it may be cost or the cost of posting that could clinch it for you. You won’t know until you do your research.
1 handy bit of information is that the U.S. Postal Service will give you free Priority Mail supplies, just take a look at www.usps.com and go to "Shipping Supplies" to order as many envelopes, boxes etc that you need.
You will have to open a seller’s account with Ebay. The name you use will need to have something to do with scrapbooking in it, to attract the right customer.
Make your advert clear as to what you’re offering and that all the buyer will need to do when they’ve received your scrapbook page is to add their own pictures and any journaling they want.
The scrapbook page that you create for them to buy will be unique and so will automatically have its own copyright. Make this clear.
Obviously you’ll need to include photos of what you’re selling and Ebay charges for more than 1 photo so look into photo hosting sites for good deals. There are plenty around.
You don’t need me to tell you to list obvious things like dimensions. Acid free paper used etc. Just be really helpful and it has been proven that the best way to write for Ebay is to imagine you are talking to a 12 year old. This isn’t patronizing, it just allows you to cover all you want to say with ease & it’s proven to work!
You can set a ‘buy now’ price for your auction or set a reserve price if you’re nervous, but most auctions start out from between $3-$10 and as you sell more & more pages you can just sit back and watch the money come rolling in.
You’ll be pleased that you’ve finally decided to start an
online scrapbooking business for yourself.
